It’s not a long road passing over Valdresflya, the mighty and weather beaten mountain pass that separates Ottadalen and Valdres. The short distance witnesses little about the two very different traditional expressions. Ottadalen with the wistful and warm fiddle playing, and Valdres with the intrepid and succulent fiddle tunes.

Bjørn Kåre Odde and Sivert Holmen have known each other since they were teens, and began playing together when they both studied at Norges musikkhøgskole. After a while they found their style and sound with the unusal combination of fiddle and hardanger fiddle.
The album features a divers range of repertoir of traditional tunes from Valdres and Ottadalen. It’s not a long road passing over Valdresflya, the mighty and weather beaten mountain pass that separates Ottadalen and Valdres. The short distance witnesses little about the two very different traditional expressions. Ottadalen with the wistful and warm fiddle playing, and Valdres with the intrepid and succulent fiddle tunes. It was therefore not obvious that Bjørn Kåre Odde from Garmo and Sivert Holmen from Aurdal would become the duo Odde & Holmen – but here’s their first album; Sumarmorgon.
